Caution: A number of con artists have been using this site to search for targets. One of the main tactics is to ask for payment to be wired to an account and then deactivating their email address. This is still a relatively rare occurrence but it has been happening recently enough to warrant this advisory note. Most reputable landlords can provide references from previous tenants or accept payment through a more protected means such as Paypal.

A light-flooded, comfortable, 80 m2, two-bedroom apartment with full-length south-facing balcony and panoramic views of the Bourse de Commerces and the gardens beyond it. It has been a happy, memory-filled home for scholars and families. On the fifth floor with elevator in an 18th c. apartment building, the flat is located on rue Coquilliere in the 1st arrondissement within walking distance of the Place des Victoires, the Marche du Montorgueil food market, the Louvre Museum, the Tuileries, the Palais Royale Gardens, and the old Bibliotheque Nationale. A wonderful location to write, walk and enjoy the wine, food, art, fashion stores, and streets and gardens of Paris. The apartment has a good sized entry hall; an eat-in fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, gas cook top, stove, large fridge/freezer; two bedrooms with plenty of closet space, one with a queen bed and french doors opening onto the south facing balcony; the other bedroom can be set up either with one queen size bed or two singles. There is a good sized living room, also opening onto the south facing balcony and view over the Bourse’s spectacular dome, with sofa and a dining table; good size bathroom with bathtub/shower and a full-size washing machine and stacked dryer; and two separate toilets. Has worked well for many: from single academics, to partners, to families with small children on sabbatical. Closest Metros: Louvre Rivoli, Bourse, Sentier, and les Halles. Rent is 2.500 Euros/month rent with one month security. We ask a half-month holding deposit at the time we both commit to the lease and we take it off the market, with the other half paid at the time the lease begins. There is currently a regular cleaner who knows the place well – her costs are not included in the base rent, but we would ask you to keep this arrangement going on on fortnightly basis- she is good and nice and not overly expensive. Monthly rent includes all building charges, taxes, water, high speed wireless internet, and all utilities (electricity, gas). These average about 150E/m depending on season and we’ve just found it can be easier to leave all utilities – internet, gas and electricity – in our name as it is expensive to open and close accounts, complicated, and time consuming to do for both sides.
